El hidr\u00f3geno es el \u00fanico gas que presenta una solubilidad apreciable en el aluminio y sus aleaciones. Su solubilidad var\u00eda directamente con la temperatura y la ra\u00edz cuadrada de la presi\u00f3n. Durante el enfriamiento y la solidificaci\u00f3n del aluminio fundido, el hidr\u00f3geno disuelto que supere la solubilidad en estado s\u00f3lido \u2014que es extremadamente baja\u2014 puede precipitarse en forma molecular, lo que da lugar a la formaci\u00f3n de poros primarios y\/o secundarios.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fuentes de hidr\u00f3geno<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Existen numerosas fuentes de hidr\u00f3geno en el aluminio. La humedad de la atm\u00f3sfera se disocia en la superficie del metal fundido, lo que da lugar a una concentraci\u00f3n de hidr\u00f3geno at\u00f3mico capaz de difundirse en la masa fundida. La m\u00e1s importante es la porosidad interdendr\u00edtica, que se produce cuando el contenido de hidr\u00f3geno es lo suficientemente elevado como para que el hidr\u00f3geno expulsado en el frente de solidificaci\u00f3n genere presiones de soluci\u00f3n superiores a la atmosf\u00e9rica. La porosidad secundaria (de tama\u00f1o microm\u00e9trico) se produce cuando el contenido de hidr\u00f3geno disuelto es bajo y la formaci\u00f3n de poros es, caracter\u00edsticamente, subcr\u00edtica.<\/p>\n<p>La porosidad por hidr\u00f3geno finamente distribuida no siempre tiene por qu\u00e9 ser indeseable. La precipitaci\u00f3n de hidr\u00f3geno puede alterar la forma y la distribuci\u00f3n de la porosidad por contracci\u00f3n en piezas o secciones de piezas con una alimentaci\u00f3n deficiente. La contracci\u00f3n suele ser m\u00e1s perjudicial para las propiedades de la pieza fundida. En casos aislados, el hidr\u00f3geno puede introducirse de forma intencionada y controlarse en concentraciones espec\u00edficas compatibles con los requisitos de aplicaci\u00f3n de la pieza fundida, con el fin de favorecer la solidez superficial.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hidr\u00f3geno en soluci\u00f3n s\u00f3lida<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La distribuci\u00f3n del hidr\u00f3geno en una estructura solidificada depende del nivel de hidr\u00f3geno disuelto y de las condiciones en las que se produce la solidificaci\u00f3n.
