Le flux de recouvrement emp\u00eache l'oxydation de l'aluminium fondu en formant une barri\u00e8re physique. Il r\u00e9duit le taux d'absorption d'hydrog\u00e8ne r\u00e9sultant de la r\u00e9action entre l'aluminium et l'H\u2082O form\u00e9e par la combustion d'un combustible contenant de l'hydrog\u00e8ne. Ce flux de recouvrement est \u00e0 base de MgCl\u2082-KCl et forme un eutectique \u00e0 bas point de fusion, \u00e0 424 \u00b0C. Ces flux de couverture pr\u00e9sentent une grande fluidit\u00e9 et forment une fine couche \u00e0 la surface du bain fondu. Le MgCl\u2082 \u00e9tant co\u00fbteux, il est principalement utilis\u00e9 pour le traitement des alliages d\u2019aluminium \u00e0 tr\u00e8s faible teneur en Na et en Ca et dont la teneur en magn\u00e9sium d\u00e9passe 2 % en poids.<\/p>\n

Les fondants salins jouent un r\u00f4le important dans le traitement de l'aluminium fondu. Ils permettent d'emp\u00eacher de mani\u00e8re passive l'oxydation du m\u00e9tal et peuvent parfois \u00e9galement \u00e9liminer activement les inclusions et les m\u00e9taux alcalins. Les fondants salins peuvent \u00e9galement \u00eatre utilis\u00e9s pour am\u00e9liorer la r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration du m\u00e9tal \u00e0 partir des \u00e9cumes et dans le processus de fusion des d\u00e9chets r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Flux pour la coul\u00e9e d'aluminium<\/a> Il peut remplir diverses fonctions, telles que le d\u00e9gazage, l'\u00e9limination du Li, du Na, du Ca et du Mg, l'\u00e9limination des inclusions, le nettoyage et l'alliage. De plus, le flux peut \u00e9galement \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 pour minimiser l'oxydation et favoriser la s\u00e9paration m\u00e9tal\/oxyde, augmentant ainsi les taux de r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration. Plusieurs fondants courants sont \u00e0 base d\u2019un m\u00e9lange de KCl et de NaCl ; un eutectique \u00e0 basse temp\u00e9rature (665 \u00b0C) se forme pour am\u00e9liorer la fluidit\u00e9 du fondant.<\/p>\n

L'oxyde peut \u00eatre \u00e9limin\u00e9 de l'aluminium fondu gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un traitement au flux. Le flux est \u00e0 base de fluorure, capable de se lier aux oxydes. La tension interfaciale entre les oxydes m\u00e9talliques est nettement sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle entre les oxydes et les fluorures. Le fluorure et l\u2019oxyde forment alors une phase mixte : le fluorure, qui se trouve dans un \u00e9tat de faible \u00e9nergie, adh\u00e8re \u00e0 l\u2019oxyde et le recouvre, ce qui permet \u00e0 l\u2019aluminium de se s\u00e9parer de ces phases mixtes.<\/p>\n

Le flux encapsule l'oxyde et le fluorure, puis forme une phase d'oxyde mixte. Cela entra\u00eene une d\u00e9composition en fragments d'oxyde individuels. Ces phases d'oxyde mixtes fragment\u00e9es ont la capacit\u00e9 de flotter, car leur densit\u00e9 est bien inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle de l'aluminium fondu.
