Ce dernier se caract\u00e9rise par sa densit\u00e9 et sa r\u00e9sistance. Qu'il soit \u00e0 l'\u00e9tat solide ou liquide, il forme facilement une couche protectrice solide qui adh\u00e8re \u00e9troitement \u00e0 la surface. Lorsque le film d\u2019oxyde d\u2019aluminium subit un choc \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tat fondu, il se transforme facilement en une fine pellicule et cause alors le plus grand pr\u00e9judice. Bien que la densit\u00e9 de l\u2019alumine puisse atteindre 3 \u00e0 4 g\/cm\u00b3, elle n\u2019est que de 2,3 \u00e0 2,4 g\/cm\u00b3 \u00e0 haute temp\u00e9rature, ce qui est pratiquement identique \u00e0 la densit\u00e9 de l\u2019aluminium fondu. Par cons\u00e9quent, ces particules sont en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 en suspension dans le bain d\u2019aluminium fondu. Si ces impuret\u00e9s se m\u00e9langent \u00e0 la bande coul\u00e9e puis lamin\u00e9e, elles provoquent des d\u00e9fauts tels que des inclusions de scories et de film d\u2019oxyde. Cela r\u00e9duit consid\u00e9rablement les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s m\u00e9caniques et la r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 la corrosion des produits. Pour garantir la puret\u00e9 de certains alliages, il convient d'utiliser des combustibles \u00e0 faible teneur en soufre dans les fours \u00e0 flamme ; tous les outils en contact avec la charge m\u00e9tallique doivent \u00eatre fabriqu\u00e9s, dans la mesure du possible, \u00e0 partir de mat\u00e9riaux n'apportant pas d'impuret\u00e9s, ou l'alliage de conversion doit \u00eatre prot\u00e9g\u00e9 par des rev\u00eatements appropri\u00e9s.
