Refining of Aluminum

Slag inclusion causes scratches, blockages and profile tearing of the extrusion die. Because the 6063 alloy rod is directly cast with electrolytic aluminum liquid, the amount of slag contained in the aluminum liquid is large, which makes the refining process of aluminum particularly important. In refining, we mainly take the following measures:

  1. Choose high-quality refining agents. Some refining agents have low content of Na3AlF6 (cryolite), and their slag and gas removal effect is very poor.
  2. Change from primary refining to secondary strengthening refining. The first dosage is 3-4kg per ton of aluminum, and the second intensified refining uses 2-3kg of molten pool per ton of aluminum without leaving dead corners, and thoroughly mixing and refining.
  3. The bell jar is pressed into the molten pool for refining by nitrogen powder injection.
  4. In order to avoid re-oxidation of the molten aluminum, a layer of covering agent is sprinkled in the molten pool after refining, and it is cast after standing for 20 minutes.
  5. Filter with ceramic foam filter during casting. Let the melt flow therethrough, and perform secondary deslagging.

Refining of Aluminum

The degas box is mainly used to remove hydrogen (H) and slag from molten aluminum. It uses the principle of air flotation. The rotor sucks inert gas or a mixture of chlorine and inert gas into the molten aluminum, and pulverizes it into small dispersed bubbles. The bubbles rise to the surface of the molten aluminum and complete the following steps at the same time: H is absorbed by the bubbles and removed, and the chloride and slag is removed.

CFF filtering system is used for the filtering and purifying of the molten aluminum, matching with the ceramic foam filter. It can filter the inclusions and tiny particles in the molten aluminum. Especially suit for the casting high purity aluminum and high precision aluminum alloy. It has the advantages with thermal resistance, anti-oxidation, corrosion resistance, warming up quickly, long lifetime and acid resistance.
