Recycling Process of Scrap Aluminum

Recycling Process of Scrap Aluminum

The recycling process of scrap aluminum generally goes through the following four basic processes:

Preparation of scrap aluminum
First of all, the primary sorting of scrap aluminum, such as pure aluminum, wrought aluminum alloy, cast aluminum alloy, mixed materials, etc. For waste aluminum products, it should be disassembled to remove the steel and other non-ferrous metal parts connected to the aluminum material, and then wash, crush, magnetic separation, drying and other processes to make waste aluminum.

Ingredients
According to the preparation and quality of the scrap aluminum materials, and in accordance with the technical requirements of recycled products, select the matching and calculate the amount of various materials.

Recycled deformed aluminum alloy
In order to ensure that the chemical composition of the alloy material meets the technical requirements and pressure processing process requirements, a part of primary aluminum ingots should be added when necessary.

Recycled cast aluminum alloy
The main equipment for secondary aluminum is smelting furnace and refining purification furnace. In recent years, AdTech is improving the treatment process and producing sodium-free granular refining agents to solve environmental pollution problems, such as using N2, Ar, etc. as refining agents. AdTech has also developed on-line degassing purification equipment to better degas and remove impurities, which can upgrade low-grade scrap aluminum and use it to manufacture secondary aluminum ingots for casting, die-casting, rolling and master alloys.

In the recycling process of scrap aluminum, the smelting of recycled aluminum and the treatment of the melt are the key processes to ensure the quality of recycled aluminum metallurgy. The modification and refining and purification of aluminum melt can not only change the form of silicon in the aluminum-silicon alloy, purify the aluminum melt, but also greatly improve the performance of the aluminum alloy. The refining, metamorphism and purification of aluminum melt are currently mostly treated with chloride and fluoride salts such as Nacl, NaF, KCI and Na3AIF6, and some are treated with C12 or C2C16. Although the effect of refining waste aluminum melt with chlorine-containing substances is better, its by-products such as AICI3, HCl and Cl will cause serious damage to the human body, environment and equipment.

Learning more and more about the natural resources that can be utilized from scrap aluminum was really interesting. I can see these resources being used elsewhere if they’re processed properly, so I want to contribute to that effort with the leftover metals I have here at home. Once we’re done sorting that out, I’ll take all of it to any aluminum recycling plants I can find in the area.
