SNIF Method

Snif process is an on-line aluminum melt treatment device invented by United carbide company. Inert gas is injected into the rapidly rotating graphite nozzle. The nozzle is composed of spindle and rotor. The inert gas is ejected from the gap (< 5mm) between the high-speed rotating rotor and the spindle, and the inert gas turns into very fine dispersion bubbles. Due to the high-speed rotation of the rotor to stir the metal liquid, the dispersed bubbles are evenly distributed in the whole melt and the contact area between the gas and the melt is increased In order to remove hydrogen and some oxide inclusions from melt rapidly and efficiently, soluble hydrogen can enter bubbles more effectively and float up with bubbles. The device is sealed to prevent the melt from being polluted again after purification.

ALPUR Method

Alpur method was invented by French company. This method is similar to snif degassing process, but the nozzle design is different from snif, and its structure is simpler. There are two different types of channels on the sprinkler head: one is eight small channels (Φ 1-3mm) arranged radially, which are connected with the rotating hollow mandrel and inject inert gas; the other is eight large channels (Φ 8-15mm) arranged in a cone-shaped way. The central intersection of the channels is concentric with the rotating axis of the nozzle, and the center line of the channel is at an angle of 45 ° with the rotating axis. There are four blades on the nozzle, which are stirred at high speed The liquid metal can make the bubbles small and evenly distributed. At the same time, it can stir the melt into the nozzle, so that the liquid metal and gas can be fully mixed, so that the purification effect is improved.
